Injections We Offer

Corticosteroid Injection Therapy

A corticosteroid (cortisone) is a medicine that has been used for many years, to relieve inflammation and swelling, thereby reducing pain in joints, bursae, and soft tissue. conditions.

Corticosteroid injections are mostly used with other treatments such as self -management and exercises therapy, as part of your rehabilitation. Relief is typically felt within days and lasting anywhere from a few months up to a year depending on severity.

When combined with a carefully executed progressive loading and exercise plan, the need for repeated injections is reduced.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in the synovial fluid within many joints. It helps to lubricate the joint, absorb shock and support smooth movement.

HA injections use a synthetic viscoelastic gel and can be used to help manage osteoarthritis affecting joints such as the knee, hip, big toe, thumb and shoulder.

In osteoarthritis, the natural hyaluronic acid within the joint can reduce in quality and quantity. HA injections help restore lubrication within the joint and may also have anti-inflammatory effects and help with regeneration of cartilage.

Evidence suggests HA injections may provide moderate benefit in early to moderate osteoarthritis, including pain relief, improved function, reduced use of pain medication and a possible delay to surgery. Response to treatment varies between individuals.
